Seafood-Driven Concept by Chef Jose Mendin Reopens on the Riverfront for Indoor and Outdoor Dining on September 17th

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (September 8, 2020) – The Wharf Fort Lauderdale and five-time James Beard Award-nominated chef Jose Mendin are pleased to announce the reopening of Rivertail located on the Riverwalk in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, where the New River meets West Las Olas Boulevard. 

The seafood-driven, waterfront restaurant will officially reopen to the public on Thursday, September 17, providing guests a fun, upbeat dining atmosphere for dinner, as well as Saturday lunch, Sunday brunch and weekday Happy Hour.

“We’re looking forward to safely welcoming our guests again,” says Chef Mendin. “Our doors may have been temporarily closed, but our team has not stopped working behind the scenes. We are very excited for our diners to enjoy the enhancements we have made to our menu and dining experience.”

Rivertail’s menu places an emphasis on global preparations of seafood-driven sharable plates, drawing on inspiration from Chef Mendin’s experiences around the world. Menu highlights include Raw Bar starters such as Hamachi Crudo and Seafood Ceviche with watermelon, guajillo, peppers and mazu. Fan-favorites from the “Snacks” menu – which features shareable dishes – include Crab Donuts with brioche, spicy honey and sea salt, Salvadorian-Style Corn Bread, and a bite-sized Lobster Roll on a toasted brioche with serrano peppers and micro cilantro. In addition to a variety of grilled seafood plates such as Yellowtail Snapper, Striped Bass, Whole Branzino, Maine Lobster, and Tiger Dorade, guests are encouraged to sample an array of Chef Mendin’s specialties, some of which include Lobster Allemande with blue crab and yuzu hollandaise, Mussels Frites and Branzino a la Grenoboise.

Rivertail will be open Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 10 p.m. for dinner; on Saturday at 11 a.m. for lunch and 5 p.m. for dinner; Sunday at 11 a.m. for brunch and 5 p.m. for dinner; and closed on Monday. The restaurant will launch new Happy Hour specials, including $.99 oysters, $3 featured beers and $5 featured cocktails/wine available Tuesday through Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
