The Food Comma Group, in Partnership with Founders of The Wharf, Reimagine the Former Briny’s Irish Pub with Seafood-Driven Global Cuisine
The Food Comma Group is proud to announce Chef Jose Mendin’s first seafood-driven concept, Rivertail, planned to open in October 2019 in downtown Fort Lauderdale. In the space formerly inhabited by Briny’s Irish Pub, the five-time James Beard Award semifinalist and his team will launch a chef-driven concept featuring coastal comfort cuisine, fresh from Florida produce, and locally caught, sustainable seafood specialities.
From small plate selections such as Crab Donuts and Lobster Flautas, to “Sharing is Caring” family-style dishes including The Rivertail Seafood Boil and Moqueca Mista, the menu will showcase items inspired by fish houses and oyster bars from coast to coast.
Rivertail will serve lunch and dinner, and focus on providing guests a fun, upbeat atmosphere that is refined, yet approachable enough for families. Additionally, inspired by Food Comma’s partner, Breakwater Hospitality, Rivertail will offer late night dining, bar and lounge seating for riverfront happy hours, and a full raw bar.
“Fort Lauderdale’s culinary scene has really evolved into a dining destination. We felt that the area was ready to explore all the best seafood the oceans have to offer, while increasing awareness about sustainable fishing practices and offering a delicious, innovative, fish-forward menu to our guests,” says José Mendín, Executive Chef. “Rivertail will be the first opportunity I have had to center a restaurant around seafood. With fish and shellfish, freshness is everything, and that freshness, along with the bright, exciting flavors my cooking is known for, is certain to give guests a memorable meal filled with Florida flair.”
Breakwater Hospitality’s credits include The Wharf Miami, and The Wharf Fort Lauderdale, slated to open this fall.
